Polymer blends

Polymer blends are an interesting field in both thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers. They can combine different properties of their individual blend components together and use them widely in different applications. In terms of immiscible polymer blends, compatibilization using triblock polymers and later on Novel Janus particles are among the long-term expertise of polymer engineering. Different characterization methods such as morphological, rheological, thermal, and mechanical properties of blends could be employed to establish structure-property relationship of these complex structures. In addition, foaming such blends and influence of several parameters on their behavior is an established topic in the department. In terms of commercially used blends, the flowability and optimization of their morphology in correlation to their process and product properties is a current topic. Also, in terms of thermosetting materials, different resin formulations and structure- property relationships between their mechanical properties is among expertise.
